The festival of lights, Diwali, will be celebrated this year on Monday, October 20, 2025, with immense devotion and joy across the country. Homes are being decorated, markets are glowing with lights, and preparations are in full swing for the grand worship of Goddess Lakshmi, the deity of wealth and prosperity. According to the Hindu Panchang, this year’s most auspicious time (shubh muhurat) for Lakshmi Puja will last for 1 hour and 11 minutes, making it the most favorable period to perform the rituals with complete faith and positivity.
As per astrological calculations, the Lakshmi Puja Muhurat will begin at 6:42 PM and end at 7:53 PM, falling under the Pradosh Kaal between 6:20 PM and 8:50 PM and Vrishabha Kaal between 6:42 PM and 8:42 PM. This time is considered highly sacred for worshipping Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha, lighting diyas, and offering prayers for prosperity and happiness. The Amavasya Tithi will start at 5:09 PM on October 20 and conclude at 3:51 PM on October 21, making the evening of October 20 the ideal period for puja and rituals.
According to the Choghadiya, the evening hours are especially auspicious, with Amrit and Shubh Choghadiya falling between 6:20 PM and 9:20 PM. These hours are perfect for performing puja, lighting lamps, and starting anything new. However, devotees should avoid Rog, Kaal, and Udveg Choghadiya, as these are considered unfavorable. On Diwali day, Rahu Kaal will occur from 7:30 AM to 9:00 AM, and it is advised to avoid any major work or religious activities during this time.
Beyond the rituals and timings, Diwali symbolizes the victory of light over darkness and good over evil. It is celebrated to mark Lord Rama’s return to Ayodhya after 14 years of exile, and it is believed that on this day, Goddess Lakshmi visits every home that is clean, bright, and filled with devotion. As families come together to light diyas, decorate their homes, and share sweets, the spirit of Diwali reminds us of hope, renewal, and the power of positivity. May this Diwali 2025 bring happiness, peace, and prosperity to all.
