In a dramatic turn of events, Uttar Pradesh Police cracked a sensitive vandalism case in Aligarh — all thanks to a spelling mistake.
A few days ago, the words “I love Mohammad” were found written on the wall of a temple in the city, sparking tension in the area. The graffiti immediately triggered outrage, and police launched an investigation to prevent communal unrest.
However, what appeared to be a religiously motivated act soon turned into a case of personal revenge. According to the police, the accused had written the message themselves to frame their rivals in a long-standing property dispute.
The breakthrough came when investigators noticed a spelling error in the graffiti. The same misspelling appeared in a social media post linked to one of the suspects — leading police directly to them. Once questioned, the men confessed to orchestrating the act to implicate their opponents.
Authorities confirmed that the accused have been arrested and charged for attempting to disturb communal harmony and mislead the investigation.
Senior police officials praised the investigation team for their quick thinking. “This case shows how a small clue — even a spelling mistake — can expose a bigger conspiracy,” an officer said.
The incident serves as a reminder of how easily misinformation or deliberate provocation can be used to exploit religious sentiments, and how crucial thorough investigation is in maintaining peace and justice.
