The Jammu and Kashmir administration has announced compensation for the victims’ families and assured that all necessary arrangements are being made for stranded devotees. The Union Home Ministry is closely monitoring the situation, while senior officials are in touch with rescue teams on the ground.
Eyewitnesses Recall Panic and Horror as Boulders Crashed Down Suddenly
Many eyewitnesses described the scene as “terrifying,” with boulders rolling down the hillside and dust covering the path within seconds. “We heard a huge roar, and suddenly rocks came crashing down. People ran in panic, but many were trapped,” said one survivor.
Public Advisory Issued Urging Pilgrims and Travelers to Avoid the Route
Authorities have appealed to people to avoid traveling towards Katra until further updates are issued. Emergency helpline numbers have also been activated to provide assistance to stranded passengers and families of the victims.
