5 shocking revelations in Delhi acid attack: ‘It wasn’t’ | What police said about DU student case

The Delhi acid attack case involving a Delhi University (DU) student has taken a shocking turn, revealing a web of deceit and manipulation instead of the brutality it was first believed to be. What started as a horrifying account of a young woman allegedly attacked with acid near Ashok Vihar has now turned into a story of revenge, false claims, and staged evidence. The Delhi Police, after a detailed investigation, have uncovered startling facts that completely changed the course of the case.

According to officials, the man who was initially accused of carrying out the acid attack was not even present at the crime scene. Police verified his location through mobile data and CCTV footage, which clearly showed that he was nowhere near Ashok Vihar when the alleged incident occurred. This revelation immediately cast doubt on the entire narrative. Further forensic examination brought another twist — no traces of acid were found at the site. The victim’s injuries, which appeared to be burn marks, are now suspected to have been caused by a household cleaning liquid instead of acid, prompting investigators to look into possible fabrication.

The most shocking revelation came when the student’s father, Akil Khan, was taken into custody and reportedly confessed to staging the entire incident. According to police sources, he and his daughter planned the fake attack using toilet cleaner to create minor burns and make it look like an acid assault. The motive, police believe, was to divert attention from another serious case involving Akil himself. Just two days before the supposed acid attack, the wife of the main accused had lodged a complaint against Akil Khan, alleging rape and blackmail. Investigators now think the acid attack story was fabricated as revenge and to discredit the complainant’s family.

Police have also found inconsistencies in the student’s statements about being stalked. Initially, it was reported that she had been followed for months by the alleged attacker. However, call records and CCTV evidence contradict her claims, suggesting that the stalking narrative was false and part of the larger plan to frame others.

Delhi Police officials stated that multiple cases are now being investigated — one for filing a false complaint and another concerning the rape and blackmail allegations against the student’s father. “It appears the incident was staged to deflect attention from another serious case,” a senior officer said. “We are awaiting forensic confirmation of the chemical used.”

The case has sparked serious discussion about the consequences of false reporting, especially in crimes as sensitive as acid attacks. While genuine victims of such violence struggle for justice, cases like this risk damaging public trust and trivializing their trauma. The Delhi Police continue their probe, and the truth that has emerged so far paints a troubling picture — one where revenge, deceit, and manipulation overshadowed justice and compassion.
